My eldest aunt died of colon cancer some years ago, and her daughter - my cousin, who's around a decade or so older than me - has breast cancer, although she's been doing pretty well despite that and I hope that continues. ♥ Also, a close friend of the family recently had to have both breasts removed, although she's on the road to recovery and hopefully everything is going well.

I know I don't talk about my personal life much, so there may be a lot of things people don't know.

I know that there were a lot of posts, and that no one but me, self-evidently has time to read them all, and I also don't know what a lot of people are saying about it because either they've filtered me out, I don't have them friended, or I'm just not egocentric enough to go out and ask. But I figured I'd make a quick post outlining things that happened there, things that are going to happen as a result, and misconceptions I want to clear up.

Okay, guys, I'm setting up a Dragonspam filter. Basically, it's a filter where I can post dragons (like this: ) and ask people to click on them to help them grow, if necessary - they need a certain number of clicks within a week, or they die - without annoying people who don't want to see that sort of crap from me, which is fair enough. OTHER PEOPLE SPAM MEMES; I SPAM DRAGONS. Clearly I am far more awesome than average, or something.

That said, if you don't mind seeing the occasional clutch of dragons and clicking through to help me out with them, tell me and I'll put you on the filter. If you'd rather not see it, don't say anything and I'll consider you opting out. EXTREMELY SIMPLE. And, if you have dragons of your own and you ever want clicks, feel free to either add me to a similar filter in your own journal or comment with them here, and I'll click through for you as well~

I used to use comms like dragonspam for exactly this sort of thing, but activity seems to have gone down there and I'm not really getting enough clicks there anymore.

Also, because I'm an enabler, if you'd like to see various types of dragons you can get if you're interested in joining, I've been working on collecting breeding pairs of as many breeds as possible, though I'm nowhere close to having them all yet.

Okay, so after ages of being too lazy to check all my journal settings and whatnot to get them in proper shape for this, I've finally gone through and put up HMDs for all my damned characters. Should have done it years ago, but...well, they're up now.

Anyway, rather than do the big HMD meme, I figured I'd actually get this done and the effects would be lasting. If anyone's been wanting to say something about my characters that they haven't had the chance to before now, just go check the appropriate character journal for the appropriate HMD post and have at.

There's a site that's passing itself around virally that may well be password-farming AIM accounts. If you get a link to a site link from the friendfacts.implayin domain, do not go there and do NOT sign in. Doing so prompts you to answer yes or no questions about random names on your AIM list - and when you answer a question about someone, they are IMed with a link to the site from your account.

If you've been messaged by me, my apologies - I wasn't aware of what it was doing until a couple people IMed me in confusion about the unsolicited link. If you've participated unawares, change your password and warn anyone whom you might have linked to do the same, just in case. I don't actually know if it's farming passwords, but it seems really shady and creepy and it's better to be safe than sorry.

UPDATE: So I noticed that the site added a bunch of adbots to my AIM buddy list; there's no question the site was responsible, as one of the bots was actually named implayinbot. I deleted them, but it's definitely annoying and underhanded, even if that's the worst side effect of the site.

Because I'm too lazy to do anything in a timely manner...

First of all, this. I admit that I am completely uninformed about the situation in Iran by now, but if getting this information out there can help anyone there, then I want to do it.

Second, jennifer linked to this awhile ago and I flaked on passing it on, but it's still active - Marrowthon, which is currently sending out free kits to people who want to join the registry to be potential marrow donors. This is something else I know next to nothing about, but again, if there are people I can help by getting this information out(and registering myself, which I just did), then I want to do it.

I'm sick right now, so forgive me if I don't reply to yours. ^^ (Most of the people on my flist, I don't have any crit for anyway...you're all too goddamn awesome.) Mostly just tossing this up in case anyone has any crit they want to throw my way, although I'd hope people can approach me anytime for that...?

Okay, so theladyfeylene directed me to this site called Swagbucks - basically, it's a search engine like Google, only in exchange for using it, you earn points towards winning stuff like gift cards and things. (There's a lot more too, like iPhones and air miles and collectibles, but you're probably more likely to get gift cards just because things like electronics take a lot of points.) Still, points are pretty easy to earn, and aside from making a free account there, you don't actually have to do anything to earn the points except to use them whenever you'd normally hit up Google. And they use some Google and Ask.com results, so it's not much of a step down, either.

Seems like a pretty nice setup, if only because you can earn stuff for free by using a search engine, and I've discovered just today that I use search engines even more than I was aware of(because it does require you to retrain yourself not to reach for Google automatically - or you could download their Firefox toolbar).
